About Us
A NEW SERVICE WITH DECADES BEHIND IT
A family-owned, nurse-led service built on nearly a century of combined clinical experience and a lifelong passion for improving quality of life for the people we support.
Our Story
Born from a Passion for Better Support
Bold Cymru was created from a passion for improving the quality of support available to people with learning disabilities and complex behavioural needs.
We saw a need for compassionate, clinically informed support. Support that promotes dignity, stability and independence, while keeping the person at the centre of every decision.
As a family, we’ve witnessed the sector change from institutional care to the drive for real community presence.
We’ve spent our careers pushing that change forward, running specialist services, reducing restrictive practices, and proving that people with the most complex needs can live meaningful lives in their own homes. Bold Cymru is everything we’ve learned, built into one service.
What Makes Us Different
Bold Cymru is a specialist supported living provider for adults with complex, high-level needs, including hospital step-downs, dual diagnosis, and behaviours that challenge. Our model is as robust as any residential service, combining professional clinical oversight with genuine family values. Small enough to provide truly personalised support, experienced enough to manage complex needs safely.
Nurse-Led
Every part of our support is guided by clinical knowledge, from Positive Behaviour Support plans and functional assessments to risk awareness and person-centred care planning. Our leadership team stays actively involved in assessments, transitions and staff guidance.
Family-Run
Bold Cymru is family-owned and family-run. Our directors work on the floor, mentoring staff shoulder-to-shoulder, because the best support is shown as well as taught. Families placing a loved one with us feel that difference.
In-House Expertise
Our team comes from a specialist behavioural background, with in-house PBM trainers and BILD-accredited physical intervention training. Everything needed to support complex needs safely lives within our own service, ready from day one.

Awards & Recognition
Decades of Recognised, Award-Winning Practice
Our directors have a family history of running award-winning specialist services, recognised by CIW and commissioners across Wales.
That recognition was earned in the areas that matter most: reducing restrictive practices, some 15 years before it became a sector-wide priority, and delivering safe, person-centred support for people with the most complex needs.
Our clinical roots run just as deep.
Positive Behavioural Management (PBM), co-developed by our Clinical Director in the late 1990s, is a BILD-accredited programme still used across the sector today. Bold Cymru delivers it through our own in-house trainers, licensed by PRT.
Our Values
What We Stand For
Dignity & Respect
Every person is treated as an individual, with their choices heard and their privacy protected.
Safety & Quality
Clinical oversight, robust governance and honest reflection keep our support safe and consistently high quality.
Compassion
We take time to understand what life feels like for each person, especially on the hard days.
Independence & Empowerment
We do things with people, not for them, building skills and confidence at each person’s own pace.
Transparency & Trust
Open, honest communication with families, professionals and the people we support. Always.
Positive Outcomes
Progress is measured in real lives: stable placements, new skills, meaningful routines and happier days.
Mentoring Side-by-Side
Our directors train and mentor staff on the floor, shoulder-to-shoulder, so great support gets passed on in person.
Our Mission
A Quality of Life for the People We Support
“Good support means understanding the individual beyond their diagnosis. It means trusting relationships, real choices, less distress and more progress: a meaningful life in the community, in a place that feels like home.”
